When Can I Order Butterflies for Release?
...Monarch release season if from mid-May thru Mid-September and Painted Lady release season is from mid-April thru the end of October.

How Do They Get To Me?
... Your order of butterflies will arrive the day before the event (via FedEx overnight express), inside an insulated cooler with a freezer pack. The butterflies are packaged in individual release envelopes or a mass release box so there is no preparation necessary. Just keep the butterflies in the styrofoam box until your event. About 30 minutes before the scheduled release, place the butterfly release envelopes/box in a bright, warm area to allow the butterflies to warm up.(Do not place in direct sunlight.) Do not open the envelopes/box until the release. When you are ready, just open the release envelopes/box and enjoy the moment.

What is a Butterfly Release?
A Butterfly Release is exactly what it sounds like. We provide you with live butterflies in individually packaged envelopes for you to release. You can release them individually from release envelopes, or all at once from a mass release box.

Is it safe for the ecosystem?
We only ship butterflies to locations that are native to them. And because they are native they cannot unbalance or harm the ecosystem. We also test all of our butterflies for disease before they are shipped to you.

How far in advance should I order?
We ask that you place your order at least six weeks prior to your event, although we always try to accommodate short notice orders.

How many butterflies should I purchase?
The best rule of thumb is to order 1 butterfly for every two guests. For example, if you are having 100 guests, we recommend ordering at least 50 butterflies. If you are planning on an individual release, we recommend having 1 butterfly per guest.

What about the weather?
Butterflies are solar critters! Therefore, they should not be released if the temperature is below 65 degrees F, on a rainy day or at night. We will accept cancellations for bad weather with no penalty! We also offer display cases that can be used on your wedding day in case of bad weather.

Are care instructions included with the order?
Yes, each order includes care instructions, along with a complimentary copy of the Butterfly Indian Legend.

Are the butterflies hurt in shipment?
No. Butterflies are in a position of rest when placed in their envelopes. And the cool, darkness of the styrofoam encourage a relaxed, almost hibernate state which they stay in until they feel light and warmth.
